Review: First Impression on the CosRx Acne Pimple Master Patch

If you watched my Instagram story a few days ago, you’d know that I did a semi-unboxing of my Roseroseshop haul. This is only my 2nd time ordering from them, and I must say, I had a better experience with customer service and shipping this time, yay!

After my semi-unboxing, I thought of not using the products first, because I promised to do an unboxing on my blog (and to get nice photos, it’s better if the products are unused lol). But then, the little bumps on my forehead were forming into acne…with a potential of pus coming out (sorry, TMI). So I decided to give the CosRx Acne Pimple Master Patch a try!

If you are into Korean beauty, even if you are just starting out, I am sure you have heard about this product already! Am I right or am I right? 😉 Everyone just has been raving about how these patches treat acne so quickly without over drying your skin and leaving a dark scar on it. Sounds like a pretty handy acne treating product to have around, right?

But does it really work? Is it worth the hype? Just keep on reading to find out!

Let’s go through the facts first.

The CosRx Acne Pimple Master Patch aka the Hydrophilic Wound Dressing claims to protect our acne from any dirt while absorbing sebum*. 

*Sebum is the yellow and oily secretion that our sebaceous glands form to keep our skin moisturized, but too much of it mixed with dirt can lead us to get acne.

Ingredients: Cellulose Gum, Liquid Paraffin, Tetrakis Methane, Styrene Isoprene, Styrene Block Copolymer, Polysobutylene, Petroleum Resin and Polyurethane Film

How to Use:
Step 1: Wash your face with a cleanser, then pat / air dry.
Step 2: Choose the size of patch that would perfectly cover and protect your acne / zit.
Step 3: Stick the patch to the desired area.
Step 4: Wait overnight, or for 8-12 hours.
Step 5: Remove once you notice a difference in the size of your acne, or once the patch turned a teeny, tiny bit white. (Mine had a white dot the next morning, and I realized that was the sebum / pus it pulled out)

Tip: Wet lightly with warm water if the patch is stuck.

Now that we’re done with the facts, let’s move on to my review (finally)!

As my title suggests, everything written here are my first thoughts on the CosRx Acne Pimple Master Patch. I’ve only used it for 2 days, and so far, so good. It worked on my tiny zit. It pulled out the pus on the first night, the excess sebum on the second night, and now my zit’s in recovery, yay! I also love that it’s travel friendly; super thin that you can slide it inside your purse without worrying about space (unlike those harsh acne creams)!

Travel Tip: If you’re really, really conscious about the space in your purse, try cutting out a few patches that you need and just slide it in a mini ziplock then to your purse!

I am in love with its packaging too! I get a “mediciney” feel from its simple design, and it’s resealable too! Although this is my first ever patch acne treatment and I have nothing to compare it with, I can guarantee you that the patches work! See photo below if you don’t believe me 😉

This is how my patch looked like after use! If you look closely, there’s a yellow dot on the upper left side of the patch. That’s what it pulled out from my acne! Sorry if it’s gross! 😐

Pros:

• It’s user-friendly!
• It works overnight!
• The patches are almost invisible. I wore it to school, the grocery, etc., and no one really noticed that I have a patch on my forehead.
• It protects my zits from dirt (and my hands — I can’t help but touch them sometimes!)
• It works well with “active” zits. It removed the sebum / pus without leaving any redness or scars.
• Its inexpensive (as an emergency acne treatment)

Cons:

• It does not work on ALL types of zits. It works best with the bigger and “active” ones.
• It can be expensive if you use it to spot treat all your zits everyday.

Verdict: 4.5/5 
I really liked the product, it helped in minimizing my zits by pulling out the excess sebum and pus. It also protected my skin from dirt. I wish there were more patches inside the pack though. I feel like I can use the whole sheet in 1 PMS week (lol).

Overall, this is a great buy! I loved the product, and was highly satisfied with what it did to my zits.

Note: What didn’t work for me might work for you, and vice versa. We have different skin types, so I can only really speak for myself and (maybe) for those people who share the same skin type with me.

Who would I recommend it to?
To people who experiences “active” zits from time to time, and to people in polluted areas, such as the Philippines. I feel like the people there would make more out of this product’s dirt blocker feature.

Dearest Filipino friends, please don’t get me wrong, I love the Philippines — that’s where I grew up, and I’ve always loved living there, but let’s be honest! The dirt and pollution there is WAAAAAY worse than a lot of countries, and trust me, these CosRx Acne patches can help you deal with keeping your zits away from the dirt!

Would I repurchase?
Definitely, but not soon. I want to try out new pimple patches so I can compare it to this one!
